NCAA: Mendoza catches fire as EAC ends slump to Perpetual

MANILA, Philippines— Jethro Mendoza unloaded five threes in an decisive stretch to lift the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals past the Perpetual Altas, 80-76, Tuesday in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament.

After Mendoza fired those triples and finished with 22 points, JP Maguliano sealed the second straight victory of the Generals by splitting his free throws in the dying seconds.

It was actually breakthrough victory for the Generals, who improved to 3-10 and won for the first time against the Altas in their last six meetings since Season 93.

Tonton Peralta fired 21 points for the Altas, who tied the Generals at the bottom of the standings.
