MANILA, Philippines–The honeymoon can wait.
Newly-wed Nico Elorde was back on the hardcourt at Araneta Coliseum less than 24 hours after getting hitched with longtime girlfriend Mich Del Carmen, who was also at the venue to support her husband.
The 27-year-old Elorde made no excuse and joined his NorthPort teammates in a game against Columbian in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday.
“It (wedding) was a big day for us. It was tiring but it everything was worth it because it’s every man’s dream to have a wedding,” Elorde said.
“The honeymoon will just be delayed. We’ll have it after the conference,” he said with a smiling.
Elorde, grandson of boxing legend Gabrial “Flash” Elorde, scored five points and had three assists in 12 minutes off the bench. Unfortunately for him, the Batang Pier couldn’t sustain their strong start to fall to the Dyip, 108-114.
The veteran point guard said tying the knot only adds motivation for him to work harder.
“This is the start of the next level for me. I’m playing because of my family and now I’m playing for my own family so I have to do better.”
