NCAA: Letran gets back on winning track after dispatching Arellano
MANILA, Philippines—Letran got back to its winning groove after brushing off Arellano University, 97-84, in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament Thursday at Filoil Flying V Center.
The Knights snapped their two-game skid and won their third game in five games, improving to a 10-6 record and maintaining their hold of the third spots.
Article continues after this advertisementBonbon Batiller led Letran with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting while Larry Muyang and Jeo Ambohot had 15 points apiece.
Letran flexed its muscle underneath the rim, outrebounding Arellano 39-23 including 18 offensive rebounds that led to 17-second chance points.
The Knights pulled away in the third quarter, taking an 80-66 lead on the back of a 34-17 scoring run.
Justin Araña had 19 points and three blocks for the Chiefs, who dropped to 4-11.
