Southeast Asian countries have started to recognize the growing industry of E-Sports in their respective territories and are looking to establish the E-Sports SEA Foundation during the ongoing 5th Asean Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS) hosted by the Philippine Sports Commission.

“This is another chance to connect with our neighbors and together strengthen the foothold of sports in the everyday lives of our people,” said PSC Chair William Ramirez, who will head the AMMS until 2020.

E-Sports has already seen action in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and will be played in the coming 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, where six gold medals from Dota 2, Starcraft 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Tekken 7 and NBA 2K19 are at stake.

The events will be played at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan from Dec. 5 to 10.

Ramirez said top sports and government officials in the ongoing AMMS will also work on revitalizing the Asean Work Plan on Sports for 2016 to 2020.
