MANILA, Philippines—Foton outlasted Generika-Ayala, 21-25, 25-17, 27-25, 19-25, 15-11, Sunday to bolster its chances of making the semifinals of the Philippine Superliga Invitationals at Filoil Flying V Center.
With sisters Eya Laure and EJ Laure joining forces with team captain Shaya Adorador, the Tornadoes slowly chipped away from a 0-4 deficit in the fifth to register their third win in six matches.
Eya Laure, the 20-year-old rookie from University of Santo Tomas, erupted with 25 points, while her sister had 11 markers for the Tornadoes.
Adorador, who hammered the game-clinching point,, dished out 18 points for Foton which can make the semis outright if F2 Logistics beat Sta. Lucia Realty late Sunday.
It was hard-earned win for the Tornadoes who had more points on attacks, 67-56, to compensate for committing more errors, 30-24.
Foton continued to miss Japan-based sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat, but has proven to hold its ground with several players stepping up to the plate.
