The said facilities form part of the 200-hectare National Government Administrative Center, a flagship project of the Duterte administration.

The athletic stadium’s design is inspired by Mount Pinatubo’s crater, Sierra Madre’s contours and details  and Pampanga’s famed “parols”or Christmas lanterns.

The aquatics center, meanwhile, drew inspiration from the woven fish nets of local fishermen, as well as Capiz shells.

The SEA Games will run from Nov 30. to Dec. 11, 2019.

The opening ceremony is scheduled at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan while the closing rites will be at the New Clark City, about 120 kilometers away from Manila.

BCDA chief Vivencio Dizon said that after the SEA Games, the facilities would be tapped for the future Philippine High School for Sports, other schools and government agencies. /gsg
