Terrence Romeo ‘excited’ to wear PH jersey anew

MANILA, Philippines—Whether it’s five-on-five or three-on-three, Terrence Romeo just couldn’t hide his excitement after getting an invitation for a chance to represent the country anew.

Romeo was among those included in the Philippines’ talent-rich pool for the men’s 3×3 event in the Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in the country later this year.

“I’m excited to be given an opportunity to tryout and wear the Philippines’ jersey again,” Romeo told reporters in Filipino before his first practice with the 3×3 training pool on Monday at Meralco Gym.

The 27-year-old guard is a former Gilas Pilipinas mainstay but he hasn’t seen action for the Philippine team since the fight-marred game against Australia in the Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers in July last year.

Despite getting snubbed in recent iterations of the Philippine team, Romeo is still hoping to make his return to Gilas.

“Of course. I’m still young. I just need to really prepare for it when I get another chance. I need to show that I’m deserving to play in five-on-five.”
