Phoenix Fuel Masters tap former NBA vet Alonzo Gee

MANILA, Philippines—Seeking for a much-needed push in its playoff bid, Phoenix has tapped the services of former NBA veteran Alonzo Gee as its import for the rest of PBA Governors’ Cup.

Gee replaced Eugene Phelps, who managed to lead the Fuel Masters to just two wins in seven games this conference.

The Fuel Masters announced the import change on their social media accounts Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Gee, who went undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft but went on to play for several NBA teams including a four-year stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, will make his PBA debut on Friday against Columbian.

Phoenix is currently in a three-way tie with Rain or Shine and Blackwater in eighth place but the Gee’s arrival, given his resumé, could be just the boost the Fuel Masters need heading into the crucial stretch of their flailing campaign.

Gee, who was measured by the PBA at 6-foot-4 earlier, last played for the Brisbane Bullets in Australia’s National Basketball League.
