Sister squads TNT and NLEX slug it out on Friday, with the Road Warriors looking to snap the KaTropa’s seven-game winning streak in the season-ending Governors’ Cup and stay at No. 2 in the standings at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
The KaTropa, the current leaders with a 7-0 card, are already assured of a spot in the playoffs but are still yearning for improvements on defense, which will be tested by the prolific offense of the Road Warriors anchored on new import Manny Harris.
Coach Yeng Guiao believes Harris will only get better even after a 45-point debut that hiked their record to 5-1 nine days ago.
Both teams are coming off at least a week’s break for the 7 p.m. contest.
Raising the curtains at 4:30 p.m. is the game between the Dyip and another struggling side in Phoenix Pulse, which will parade a new import in Alonzo Gee.
The KaTropa have bolstered its long-range weapons with the acquisition of Mike DiGregorio.
“With guys like Jayson [Castro] and KJ [McDaniels] being able to break down the defense at any time, [TNT] really is a shooters’ paradise,” DiGregorio told the Inquirer.
