TAGBILARAN CITY—Prime prospect Juniel Lacar and Jenniver Flores trounced their respective rivals in Wednesday night’s finals to complete Misamis Oriental’s romp in the 2012 PLDT-Abap National Open Boxing Championships at the Cogon Gymnasium here.
Their triumphs raised MisOr’s golden haul to seven, four clear of Tayabas, Davao del Norte, and General Santos City.
Tayabas and Davao del Norte have similar three silvers, but the fighters from Quezon have more bronzes, 7-2. GenSan had two.
Mandaue captured two golds, two silvers and two bronzes; Cebu City 2-1-5, Bago City 2-0-2, Tagbilaran 1-2-2, Manolo Fortich, 1-1-0, Leyte 1-1-0, and Gingoog 1-0-1.
Lacar whipped General Santos’ Ronnie Tanallon, 30-17, in the 49-kilogram elite light flyweight class to emerge best boxer in his division while
Flores routed Asuncion’s Leslie Domingo, 14-7, for the youth girls 46 kg title.
Also named best boxers were Tagbilaran’s Jessel Mark Araula in the boys youth division, GenSan’s Jade Bornea in junior boys and Tayabas’ Jennie Miranda in the women’s class.
Other late bouts saw Manolo Fortich’s Kimberly Labajo beat Asuncion’s Kimberly Edilio, 23-12, for the youth girls’ featherweight title, and GenSan’s Roldan Boncales upend Mandaue’s Dannlou Codilla, 9-7 (elite fly).
Other gold medalists from MisOr handled by national coach Elmer Pamisa: Julito Sumalinog (junior boys flyweight), Princess Galarfe (junior girls light flyweight), Remark Casas (youth boys light flyweight), Beverly Casero (youth girls 46kg) and Margie Waga (youth girls 51kg).
