MANILA, Philippines—The PBA on Wednesday slapped a P30,000 fine on San Miguel Beer’s Kelly Nabong for his hard hit on Meralco’s Chris Newsome during their game last Sunday in the 2019 Governors’ Cup.

The incident happened at the 7:46 mark of the fourth quarter where Nabong appeared to try to undercut Newsome, who crashed on the floor.

League commissioner Willie Marcial also issued a warning to Nabong that he will be facing a heftier fine plus suspension if the temperamental big man gets himself into trouble again.

The 30-year-old Nabong got tossed after he called for a flagrant foul penalty 1 for the dangerous play then was whistled for a technical for engaging in a verbal altercation with Bolts center Raymond Almazan.

Newsome and Meralco got the last laugh with the Bolts sending the Beermen to their second straight loss following a 125-99 rout.
