MANILA, Philippines—Justin Brownlee came alive in the fourth quarter to help Barangay Ginebra hold off Blackwater, 101-93, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday night at Cuneta Astrodome.

Brownlee erupted for 10 points in the final frame after scoring only seven through three quarters as the Gin Kings tied Meralco in third place to bolster their top four bid at 5-2.

“That was a battle both mentally and physically,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

“Justin obviously struggled from the field tonight but he still did some things for us tonight.”

The 31-year-old Brownlee posted his fourth triple-double this conference after collecting 12 rebounds and 11 assists.

LA Tenorio led all scorers with 20 points, including a crucial triple that gave Ginebra a 96-89 cushion with 3:09 remaining. He also had seven rebounds and five assists.

The Kings chalked up their fourth consecutive victory but not after squandering a 21-point advantage as the Elite pulled within four with still over three minutes left.

Mac Belo spearheaded Blackwater’s fightback with 11 of his team-high 19 points coming in the fourth period.
