LOOK: Japan’s Olympic stadium shines in lighting test
TOKYO — The new National Stadium was beautifully illuminated Wednesday to test its lighting in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo.
Construction is now in the final stages, with completion scheduled for the end of this month. The field is almost ready, and its green presents a vivid contrast with the reddish brown of the track. The exterior lighting was inspired by Japanese traditional lanterns such as bonbori and chochin.
Soft light from under the eaves, a feature of traditional Japanese architecture, quietly illuminates the stadium, which incorporates a great deal of Japanese wood.
