MANILA, Philippines—A philippine youth football club is gearing up in Japan in preparation for SingaCup 2019.
Makati FC is training in Gotemba in Japan with new recruits Lance Pusoc and Daniel Cagaanan of Koronadal, and Ron Moequin of Bacolod in tow.
“The MFC Japan camp puts our local Filipino talent at a very young age at a much higher level of training. This is necessary to prepare them to compete in higher level tournaments,” said SeLu Lozano, Makati FC chief executive officer.
Makati FC is on its second international competition and is looking to build on its successful campaign from the Borneo Cup in September.
The Philippine club won the gold medal in the under-15 boys division and the silver in the under-14 and under-13 boys divisions.
“The continuous development of players is what the club aims for as we try to contribute in the efforts of strengthening the Philippine youth football. At the same time we are able to maximise child’s growth and development using football as a school of life,” said Lozano.
Makati FC flew to Japan over the weekend to train with coaches from the Japan Football Association.
Apart from the SingaCup that will run from Nov. 3 to 7, the club is also preparing for the Bangkok 7s set on Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Thailand. Bong Lozada
