Letran gains Petron semis
DASMARIÑAS—Letran 1 turned back University of the East, formally booking a semifinal slot in the 2012 Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball Tournament at the De La Salle Health Science Institute Campus here.
Gena Andaya and new partner Sarah Jane Espelita finished with two wins and two losses in Group B, after a 21-12 triumph over UE standouts Jimberly Dawn Dizon and Leuseth Dawis.
Their schoolmates, Letran 2’s Justine Mae Tadeo and Melissa Cu also tallied a 2-2 slate at the end of their Group A stint, putting away San Beda College’s Janine Marciano and Coline Malana, 21-16 to secure the seat in the semifinals.
Andaya and Espelita earned a best-of-three semis showdown with last year’s Battle of Champions winner Jessica Paron and Francislyn Cais of the University of the East.
