MANILA, Philippines–Justices of the Supreme Court have shown their biases on a matter that will be resolved on the hardcourt two days from now.
“Wala naman laban yung UP,” Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta said Friday when asked on what he thought about the upcoming fight between the University of the Philippines (UP) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) on the semifinals of UAAP Season 82.
“Wala namang laban yung UP. Dalawang beses ng natalo [UP has no match. It already lost twice],” Peralta told reporters during the CJ Meet the Press event.
The Chief Justice added that “it will be obvious” even before the end of first half that UP will lose the game.
“Baka first half lang alam mo na talo ang UP…Kaya lang baka may tsamba. Yun ang delikado,” he said adding that Ateneo is also hoping that the UST Growling Tigers will be defeated.
But Associate Justice Marvic Leonen has issued a dissent: I am confident that the true facts of this controversy will be proven without a shadow of the doubt within the next few days.
Leonen even used the hashtag #UPFight. He is a graduate of the UP College of Law and also served as UP Law Dean.
