Bukidnon kids ready for Luzon’s best

Striker Kurbe Dairo made a name for himself after leading the Bukidnon Football Association to the title of the recently concluded Mindanao Cup.

Dairo, named most valuable player from among the 16 teams of the 12-under, nine-a-side tournament, will bring his act to the Luzon Cup on Nov. 21 to 24 at Tarlac Recreational Park in San Jose, Tarlac.

Bukidnon almost swept the individual awards with Jun Melig adjudged best goalkeeper, Adriel Algador named best defender and Prince Aseniero, best midfielder.

“We are excited to play against the top teams in Luzon. It will help our team become more competitive and develop our skills individually,” said Dairo after Bukidnon defeated Davao South Regional FA White, 4-0, in the Mindanao Cup finals in Davao City.

The Luzon Cup is the third of a series of Under-12 tournaments of the Negros Occidental Football Association’s (Nofa) “Football Para sa Lahat” program.

Nofa president Ricky Yanson began the program four years ago with the Nofa Cup nationwide tournament, and expanded it this year.

Aside from the trip to Tarlac as prize for ruling the Mindanao Cup, Bukidnon FA also won P30,000 worth of football equipment.
