BEIJING—Jeremy Miado turned out to be the Filipinos’ saving grace in what would’ve been a shutout in ONE: Age of Dragons Saturday night here.

Miado walked toward the ring with much pizzaz then backed up that confidence with an impressive performance.

The 26-year-old Miado stunned the hometown crowd at Cadillac Arena after knocking out Miao Li Tao with a flying knee at the 3:01 mark in the first round of their strawweight clash.

Miado nearly pulled off an armbar submission earlier in the round, but Miao managed to slither out of it.

But there was no escaping Miado’s strike that caught Miao off guard right in the chin.

Miado, whose record rose to 8-4, got back on the winning track while also stopping Miao’s three-fight run.

The win was the only victory by Filipino fighters in the card after Team Lakay’s Edward Kelly and Ramon Gonzales both losing by unanimous decision against Tang Kai and Hexigetu, respectively.
