The Philippines bounced back with an 8.5-5 win over Malaysia to pick up its first win in the polo event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games Tuesday at Iñigo Zobel Polo facility in Calatagan, Batangas.
The Nationals rebounded from an 8.5-8 loss to Brunei two days ago in a match where Brunei Prince Abdul Mateen commended the Filipinos for their strong showing.
It was a big win for the Philippine polo team, which banked on the solid play of Gus Aguirre, Santi Juban and Tommy Bitong, as it toppled a Malaysian side that won the gold in the 2017 Games held in Kuala Lumpur.
The Filipinos continue their medal bid against Indonesia on Thursday.
