SEA Games: PH beats Indonesia, enters gold medal round in polo

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines barged into the gold medal round of the polo event in 2019 Southeast Asian Games after a 6-4.5 win over Indonesia Thursday at Inigo Zobel Polo Facility.

The Filipinos have arranged a showdown against Malaysia, who they beat 8.5-5 in their previous game, for the gold on Sunday at 3pm at the same venue.

Indonesia and Brunei dispute the bronze medal at 1pm.

It was another solid outing from captain Stefano Juban, Tomas Bitong, Miguel Lopez, and Gus Aguirre for the Filipinos, whose only loss in the tournament is against Brunei (8.5-8) in their opener.

The Malaysians, the reigning champions in the competition, defeated Brunei, 8-5.5, in the other polo match Thursday.
