MANILA, Philippines—Phil Younghusband provided the scoring punch for the Philippines as the Azkals shut out former champion India, 2-0, in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup Sunday in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Younghusband nearly pulled off a hat trick as he scored all of the Azkals’ goals, opening the scoring early in the 11th minute before doubling the lead in the 73rd minute.

Younghusband scored off a throw-in by Jason Sabio in the first half before connecting with James Younghusband for the other goal.

Philippines is now second in its group, tied with Tajikistan (1-0-1, three points) behind North Korea and will have to slug it out in a winner-take-all match for a semifinals spot.
