MANILA, Philippines— The Philippines escaped with a tight 8-7 win over Malaysia in the men’s floorball competition of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Friday at University of the Philippines’ College of Human Kinetics gym.
Lucas Oijvall Perez netted the match’s winning goal at the final buzzer to give the hosts the thrilling victory and an even 2-2 record.
The Filipinos were down 6-4 entering the third period before they got their rhythm and outscored the Malaysians 4-1 in the final frame.
In the women’s match, the Philippines settled for a 4-4 draw with Malaysia.
Both Malaysia and the Philippines netted three goals each in the third period.
The draw put the Filipinas at 1-2-1 after the elimination round.
All four teams will face once more on Sunday this time for the bronze medal in both the men and women’s division.
