MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines’ Jones Inso captured the silver medal in the men’s taijijian competition of the wushu event in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Monday at World Trade Center.
Inso registered a score of 9.65, just .03 points behind gold medalist Choon How Lo of Malaysia who had 9.68.
Hosea Wong Zheng Yu of Brunei settled for the bronze with a score of 9.60.
Indonesia’s Bobie Gunawan, the silver medalist in the 2017 SEA Games, placed fourth with a score of 9.58 while Samuel Wei Tan Han of Singapore took the fifth spot with a mark of 9.55.
Daniel Parantac of the Philippines placed sixth with a score of 9.54 while Nyein Chan Ko Ko of Indonesia finished at seventh with a mark of 9.38.
Saelee Jo rounded out the competitors finishing at eight place with a score of 9.13.
The other Filipinos in the wushu event, however, weren’t as successful as Inso.
Daniel Parantac, the 2015 SEA Games gold medalist, placed sixth in the taijijian competition with a score of 9.54.
Thornton Sayan finished fifith with a score of 19.19 in the men’s taolu nandao/nangun combine.
Of the Filipino wushu artists who competed on the finals, none had the most unfortunate fate than Johnzenth Gajo.
Gajo finished with a score of 9.63 points in the men’s taolu daoshu/gunshu combine and held the top spot before medalists Edgar Marvelo of Indonesia, Si Wei Jowen Lim of Singapore, and Xuan Hiep Tran of Vietnam slowly booted him to fourth place.
