MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas continued its winning ways after a 21-13 drubbing of Malaysia in 3×3 basketball of the 30th Southeast Asian Games Monday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Mo Tautuaa caused major problems for the Malaysians with his sheer size and strength.
The 6-foot-8 Tautuaa led the Filipinos in scoring with seven points while also protecting the paint.
Gilas started slow as it trailed Malaysia, 5-8, early before responding with a 13-1 blast to take total control of the game.
Chris Newsome sealed the Philippines’ fifth victory with a lefty layup off a nifty crossover.
The Nationals showed no letup despite already clinching a semifinals slot after going 4-0 in day one of the competitions.
