SEA Games: PH’s Kiamco, Ignacio also into quarterfinals in 9-ball doubles

MANILA, Philippines–Warren Kiamco and Jeffrey Ignacio, Philippines’ other bet in the 9-ball men’s double event, breezed past Darryl Chia and Amir Ibrahim of Malaysia, 9-3, in the 30th Southeast Asian Games Tuesday at Manila Hotel Tent.

Kiamco and Ignacio put together a strong performance to gain the first two racks, then mounted an even stronger outing towards the end to give the hosts their second victory.

“We’re looking good so far. We just had a couple of miscues” said Kiamco a veteran both in this meet and the Asian Games.

“We just need to be consistent, especially with breaks,” added Ignacio.

Earlier, Carlo Biado and Johann Chua topped a Malaysian side, 9-2.

Both wins gave the Philippines slots in the quarterfinal.

The two Filipino tandems are on a collision course to meet in the Final, should they emerge victorious from the next two rounds.

Kiamco and Ignacio are set to battle the winner of the Brunei-Indonesia match. Biado and Chua, meanwhile, await the winner of the Indonesia-Laos contest.
