NEW CLARK CITY — For Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen, being partners off the dance floor is a two-edged sword.
College chums and sweethearts for four years, Gayon and Renigen marked a new height in their relationship Sunday when they won two golds and one silver in the 30th Southeast Asian Games dancesport.
“It’s a balance of everything, it makes it easier because you can produce the feelings more, but when you fight it’s harder,” said the 25-year-old Renigen.

“But it’s all worth it,” she was quick to say in the din of celebration at the busy, chaotic ballroom of the Royce Hotel.
It showed in the way they moved with grace and technique to capture the golds in standard foxtrot and standard waltz. They also picked up silver in standard quickstep.
They met in college when they were studying at University of Makati and found a similar calling.
