MANILA, Philippines—Prolific guard Mac Cardona, loathed by the opposition for his on-court antics, earned the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week citation for March 5 to 11 for powering the Meralco Bolts to back-to-back wins.

The cager dubbed as “Captain Hook” notched back-to-back 25-point games to become the first Meralco player to earn the weekly citation.
And Bolts coach Ryan Gregorio was most impressed.

“I was really hoping that his exploits will be recognized,” said Gregorio, who gave up a first-round draft choice to acquire Cardona from Talk ‘N Text in August 2010.

Along the way, La Salle’s former King Archer also incurred the ire of opposing teams and their fans with such gestures as pulling down his shorts in front of the other team’s bench, asking a defender with his hands the question, “How tall are you?” after scoring a basket, and cupping his hands to his ears to drown out the heckles and boos that come his way.
