SEA Games: PH softball teams still on a roll

NEW CLARK CITY — Tournament favorites Blu Girls and Blu Boys continued their steady assault in the round robin, winning their respective matches Tuesday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games softball.

One match was halted by inclement weather brought about by Typhoon Tisoy.

But not until the Blu Girls crushed Indonesia, 11-1, and the Blu Boys bested Indonesia, 7-3, at The Villages here.

It was the Blu Girls’ third straight win in the tournament in pursuit of a 10th women’s softball title.

The Blu Boys also registered their second straight win, but their biggest match would be on Wednesday against the Singaporeans.

Singapore scored a first-ever win over the Philippines during the Men’s Softball World Champions (4-3) this year.

The Blu Boys ranked 17th, their worst ever in the Worlds, while Singapore finished 15th.

The men’s preliminary match between Thailand and Singapore was halted after just one inning because of bad weather.

Organizers said the postponed games will be played when weather improves. Otherwise, the teams will play on Thursday which is supposed to be rest day.
