SEA Games: Philippines bags 4 gold medals in obstacle course

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine obstacle team delivered with four gold medals Wednesday in the sport’s debut in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The Filipino OCR athletes kicked off the country’s medal drive on Day 4, topping the 400-meter mixed team assist and mixed team relay races at Filinvest City Alabang.

The Philippines also went 1-2 in the women’s individual 100m race with Rochelle Suarez (46.70) and Milky Mae Tejares (47.88) pocketing the gold and silver medals, respectively.

In the men’s 100m event, Kevin Jeffrey Pascua completed Wednesday’s gold medal sweep for the Philippines with a 29.92 clocking. Mark Julius Rodelas took home the bronze.

The Philippine team of Kyle Antolin, Kaizen dela Serna, Monolito Divina and Deanna Moncada conquered the 12-obstacle mixed assist race in 3:48.35. Malaysia’s squad came in at 4:29.28.

Diana Buhler, Jeffrey Reginio, Klymille Rodriguez and Nathaniel Sanchez topped the team relay in 1:59.56 while Malaysia finished in 2:01.68.
