SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—Women’s champion Monica Torres and Doy Comendador will join forces to try and cap a rewarding campaign in the duathlon with another victory in the 30th Southeast Asian Games here.

Together with Pawee Fornea and Ephraim Inigo, these duathletes form a formidable mixed relay team in today’s race at the Subic Bay Boardwalk.

“I think we have the edge,’’ said Torres, who captured the women’s duathlon gold medal on Monday. “We know each other here in duathlon, except for a few surprises.’’

Thai duathletes, led by women’s silver medalist Sonsem Pareeya and men’s bronze performer Srinate Nattawut, are the biggest thorn in the Filipinos’ bid to claim two of the three golds at stake in the 10-kilometer run-40-km bike-5-km run test of endurance.

“We will be ready for them,’’ Comendador said.
