SEA Games: Philippines settles for silver, bronze in underwater hockey

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines settled for podium finishes in both the men and women’s division in the 6×6 competition of the underwater hockey event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games Thursday at Vermosa Sports Hub.

Skipper Chari May Ongyanco and the rest of the women’s team plucked the silver medal after losing to Singapore 3-0 in the final.

The Singaporeans took an early 1-0 lead in the first half and sealed their gold medal, netting two goals in the second half.

In the men’s side, captain Alex Colet led his team to a 7-1 thrashing of Malaysia to claim the bronze medal.

The Nationals scored five goals in the first half to build an early lead en route to the podium finish.
