SEA Games: Jeordan Dominguez wins poomsae freestyle gold

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines took home another poomsae gold with Jeordan Dominguez ruling the men’s individual freestyle event of taekwondo in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Saturday.

Dominguez added a SEA Games gold to an already impressive resume that includes a gold medal in the World Taekwondo Championships after finish ahead of the pack with 7.433.

Vietnam’s Ngoc Nguyen settled for the silver (6.999) while Indonesia’s Wawan Saputra took the bronze (6.633).

Two more runner finishes in freestyle poomsae  put the taekwondo jin’s haul at four gold and four silver medals.

Janna Oliva salvaged the silver in the women’s individual category, scoring 6.766 behind gold medal winner Thi Mong Quynh Nguyen of Vietnam who finished with 7.433.

Faye Crisostomo, Marvin Mori, Patrick Perez, Darius Venerable, and Oliva also finished silver in the  mixed team event.

The Filipinos registered 6.866 while Vietnam’s Ngoc, Tuyet Van Chau, Van Hua, Thi Le Kim Nguyen, and Ho Duy Tran won the gold medal with a score of 7.799.
