SEA Games: PH Blu Boys end reign, lose softball gold to Singapore
NEW CLARK CITY — The Philippines’ reign in men’s softball ended Sunday after dropping a 6-1 decision to Singapore in the final of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
It was the Blu Boys’ first SEA Games defeat since losing to Indonesia in the 1997 edition.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Blu Boys beat Singapore in the first round, 8-0, but dropped to them in the semifinals, 4-3, in the meet held at The Villages.
“We were out-hit,” said coach Randy Dizer of the men’s team which was already a revamped squad.
The Blu Boys finished 17th in the World Championships last year in China, their worst finish there.
