SEA Games: PH road race team adds bronze to cycling haul
TAGAYTAY – The trio of Jonel Carcueva, Marcelo Felipe and El Joshua Cariño combined to give the Philippines a bronze medal in the team classification road race of the Southeast Asian Games that ended at the People’s Park here Sunday.
Carcueva, Felipe and Cariño clocked 10 hours, 40 minutes and 50 seconds to finish third behind Thailand (10:07:05) and Indonesia (10:09:09).
Thailand’s Sarawut Sirironnachai took the gold in the individual road race, navigating the 130.4-km field in 3:21:11, just nine seconds ahead of Laos’ Ariya Phounsavath, who claimed the silver.

Carcueva was the best Filipino finisher after clocking 3:23:02 for seventh place. The times of Felipe (3:25:45) and Cariño (3:26:03) were also counted in the team classification.
Cycling has delivered three golds, three silvers and four bronzes so far to the country’s haul.
