MANILA, Philippines–Jamie Lim delivered the second gold for the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games karatedo after a 2-1 conquest of Indonesia’s Zeyco Sefanya in women’s -61 kumite Monday at World Trade Center in Pasay.
Lim took a 1-0 head start against the visitor then played the patient game before putting together a spirited attack towards the end.
The 22-year-old athlete, who is also the daughter of PBA great Samboy Lim, hiked the Philippine contingent’s medal count to two golds, a silver, and seven bronzes.

The victory also vastly improves Philippines’ overall finish from the 2017 staging of the games, where the Filipinos only had a total of seven medals—three of them silvers and four bronzes.
It was quite the feat for Lim, who only returned to training in July after focusing on college degree which she finished with flying colors.
The BS Mathematics major graduated summa cum laude last June with a whopping weighted average of 1.073.
Lim, daughter of former Pag-Ibig fund CEO Darlene Berberabe, said in television interviews that she owes much of her wisdom from her mother.
