An undermanned Philippine team stunned the field in the inaugural FEI Asian Equestrian Championships after leaping to the silver medal recently at Thai Polo and Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Thailand.“It’s always a proud moment to see our flag flying high on foreign soil, and on the world stage,” said veteran rider Toni Leviste, who crossed the finish line immaculately as the anchor for the three-man Philippine team.The Philippines collected 45.15 points to leapfrog past Kuwait’s 45.36.
The Philippine team of Leviste, veteran team member Joker Arroyo and US-based rider Colin Syquia needed to hurdle a huge deficit after starting the day at fourth place behind Uzbekistan, Kuwait and eventual gold medalists Hong Kong.
