4 Valenzuelanos SEAG medalists get cash gifts

MANILA, Philippines — Four athletes from Valenzuela City have received cash incentives from the local government for winning gold and bronze medals in the just concluded Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

“The city government commends the local athletes for bringing pride and inspiration not only to their Filipino countrymen but to their fellow Valenzuelanos,” the Valenzuela Public Information Office said in a statement.

Brandhon Kyrielle Aquino, a resident of Barangay Gen. T. de Leon who competed in the sailing international 420 men’s event; Baby Jessica Canabal, also of Gen. T. de Leon who represented the country in the taekwondo women under 53 kilograms division; and Noelito Jose Jr., a resident of Barangay Dalandanan who competed in fencing, took home bronze medals.

On the other hand, Jeniel Bata-anon from Barangay Lawang Bato bagged a gold medal for E-sports, the first time the sport was included in the SEA Games.

The bronze medalists received P50,000 each while Bata-anon got P100,000.
