Wyatt keys Alab road triumph

Import Khalif Wyatt drilled a triple with 27 seconds remaining as San Miguel Alab Pilipinas completed a remarkable comeback on the road to edge Formosa Dreamers of Taiwan, 100-99, for its fourth straight win in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) at Changhua Stadium.Playing its third game in a week, Alab mustered enough strength to weather Formosa’s strong start before putting together a solid fourth quarter capped by Wyatt’s clutch trey as the Filipino club finished the year with a 4-1 record.

Point guard Jason Brickman finished with 12 points and 12 assists, including the pass that found Wyatt on the right side for the go-ahead triple.

The Dreamers rode Anthony Tucker’s hot shooting late in the game, erasing Alab’s five-point advantage.

After a layup by Jordan Heading hiked Alab’s lead to 92-87, Tucker hit four straight triples with the last trey coming at the 1:18 mark, giving the home team a 99-97 lead.

But the former Macau import saw a couple of his shots from beyond the arc rim out in the final 20 seconds as Formosa was denied of back-to-back victories.

Sam Deguara came through with 20 points and nine rebounds for Alab, while Nick King added 19 points. Wyatt had 17 points, including three triples while Lawrence Domingo tallied 10 points for Alab, which trailed, 32-49, at the 6:27 mark of the second period following a dunk by Jordan Tolbert. INQ
