MPBL brings act to North America; crucial game for Zambo 5
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) stages its first official game in North America as Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines takes on Imus-Luxxe Slim on Friday at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex in Calgary. Running sixth in the South division, Zamboanga shoots for its 16th victory in the Chooks To Go MPBL Lakan Season against an Imus team that only has six wins to show so far in its campaign.
“It’s an important game for us because we’re chasing homecourt advantage in the playoffs,” said Zamboanga star Alvin Pasaol, who shot 24 points in the 85-81 win over Valenzuela on Dec. 19. “The priority right now is to finish in the top 4 of our division.”
The uphill climb for coach Britt Reroma’s charges will need to go through an Imus team that has ex-PBA star Jayjay Helterbrand as its spearhead. INQ
