Lady Chiefs all set for NCAA ‘four-peat’ target

Three-time defending champion Arellano University has already hit the ground running as it shoots for a fourth straight NCAA women’s volleyball crown.

And if nobody has noticed, it’s because the Lady Chiefs are sticking to their low-key nature.

NCAA management committee chair Peter Cayco of Arellano said the squad only had a brief holiday break and had been training regularly for the tournament slated on Jan. 10.

“They had no real break, the players are training very hard because they want to prove something this season,” said Cayco, also the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. executive vice president.

The team, bereft of superstars but overflowing with talent and grit, has ruled four of the past five seasons.

Arellano will be led by back-to-back Most Valuable Player Necole Ebuen and last year’s Finals MVP Regine Arocha.
