MANILA, Philippines–ONE Championship is ushering its biggest year yet, lining up a record-high of 50 live events for 2020.
ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the announcement on Sunday as the mixed martial arts promotion looks to build on a strong 2019, where it held 42 events and launched key properties like ONE Esports.
The events for this year, though, will not be limited to ONE Championship fight nights with ONE Super Series, ONE Hero Series, ONE Warrior Series, and ONE Esports also set to feature live acts.
Kicking off the year for Asian-based promotion is the ONE: A New Tomorrow fight card in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday. Filipino bet Roel Rosauro is fighting in the preliminaries.
Sityodtong also said the company, which also announced signings of partnerships with different brands, is looking into expanding its market to India and United States, if all goes as planned.
ONE Championship is holding its first fight night in Manila on January 31 where strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio of Team Lakay will be defending his belt anew.
