Filipino-Japanese karateka Junna Tsukii took home another medal just one month after winning the gold in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Tsukii on Sunday bagged the bronze in the Female Kumite -50kg event in the Karate 1-Series A, which is an Olympic qualifier, in Santiago, Chile.
The 28-year-old Tsukii secured the bronze medal after a 2-1 win over Shara Hubrich of Germany.
Tsukii missed a shot at a gold after falling to Venezuela’s Yorgelis Salazar, 5-7.
Serap Ozcelik of Turkey ruled the category after turning back Salazar, 7-3, in the final.
Tsukii’s quest for a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics continues later this month when she tests her mettle in the Karate1-Premier League in Paris, France beginning January 24 to 26.
Apart from being a SEA Games gold medalist, Tsukii is also a 2018 Asian Games bronze medalist.
