Jamie Malonzo, Jaydee Tungcab banner PBA D-League hopefuls
MANILA, Philippines—High-rising Fil-Am Jamie Malonzo and Gilas program member Jaydee Tungcab banner the 137-man strong class that applied for the 2020 PBA D-League Draft.
The 6-foot-6 Malonzo had a brief but memorable stint with De La Salle but did enough in his short stay with a spot in the Mythical Team of Season 82.
Tungcab, meanwhile, played sparingly for University of the Philippines but the 6-foot-3 forward drew the attention of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to earn him a spot in the pool.
Both Tungcab and Malonzo are expected first round picks and could potentially head to AMA Online Education, which holds the top overall pick for the fourth straight year.
Also joining the Draft are former UAAP Juniors MVP Jerie Pingoy, ex-Batang Gilas standout Jollo Go, Cebu stars Darrell Menina and Jaybie Mantilla, Centro Escolar University’s Judel Fuentes, and University of the East’s John Apacable.
Other Fil-foreigners to sign up for the Draft are Joshua Torralba from La Salle, UP’s James Spencer, David Murrell, and JJ Espanola.
Yves Sazon and King Destacamento also headline the players from the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
