Blackwater trades Brian Heruela anew, gets Dennison from Phoenix

MANILA, Philippines—Brian Heruela is leaving Blackwater for the third time.

In a trade that transpired on Thursday, the Elite dealt their once-promising guard to Phoenix for swingman Ron Dennison.

Heruela started his professional career with the Elite in the 2014-15 season and he averaged his best numbers with the club putting up 10.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.4 steals during his rookie year.

Getting bounced around, however, didn’t help his stats but he did win four titles when he played for San Miguel from 2015 to 2018.

Heruela was then traded to TNT in December of 2018 before getting dealt back to the Elite in October 2019 for Mike Digregorio.

The stocky guard played limited minutes for the KaTropa and Blackwater and averaged 2.4 points and 2.0 assists in the Governors’ Cup.

Dennison, meanwhile, also had the same role as Heruela as off-the-bench energizers and he averaged 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds in his first year.

It will be a reunion of sorts at Blackwater as Dennison reunites with college head coach Nash Racela whom he played for at Far Eastern University.
