MANILA, Philippines—It’s been a long and bittersweet road for Allen Durham but his journey in the PBA may still be far from its end.
Durham collected his third Best Import of the Conference award in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup but the championship–the thing he came back to Meralco for–has eluded him for a third straight time.
The loss, though, has only made Durham hungrier for the elusive title.
The Bolts once again fell short against Barangay Ginebra, kissing their hopes title goodbye with a 105-93 loss in Game five on Friday and it’s not how Durham wants to leave Meralco.
“I’m determined to win a championship and with these guys, you know, they really grew and became my brothers,” said Durham, who is tied behind Bobby Ray Parks Sr., in the all-time Best Import awardee list. “They deserve one too.”

“We’ll talk with the management and stuff like that, obviously we got to let time pass but I’m definitely hungry.”
And it doesn’t matter who he faces, as long as he gets his hand on the big trophy.
The Gin Kings have always prevented the Bolts from winning their first title in franchise history and their import Justin Brownlee was always there to become the thorn in Meralco’s dreams.
“I just want to win a championship so it doesn’t really matter who we play against,” said Durham who had 29 points, 21 rebounds, and eight assists in the final game of the series.
