Unbeaten St. Benilde and Arellano are enjoying hot starts but each team is using different approaches this season.
The Lady Blazers (3-0) make full use of their bench while the Lady Chiefs count a lot on their starters.
St. Benilde assistant coach Jay Chua said that since the season is still young, they want to give key players a break.
“We still have more games and, after all, the most important games are late in the season,” he said.
Thus, top rookies Mycah Go and Gayle Pascual have been pivotal in the first two wins of St. Benilde.
Arellano mentor Obet Javier, meanwhile, wants to use his bench “but I need good timing, I can’t gamble without my first six.”
Both teams face separate rivals on Thursday in the NCAA women’s volleyball at Filoil Flying V Centre.
St. Benilde battles Emilio Aguinaldo, while Arellano clashes with Jose Rizal starting at noon.
