Over 1.5 million have signed an online petition to change the likeness in the NBA logo to Kobe Bryant’s following his heartbreaking death in a helicopter crash.
The petition, started by user Nick M., was launched right after Bryant’s passing on January 27 (US time) and has garnered 1,658,208 signatures as of posting.
“With the untimely and unexpected passing of the great Kobe Bryant please sign this petition in an attempt to immortalize him forever as the new NBA Logo,” the petition read.
The NBA has featured the silhouette of Los Angeles Lakers’ legend Jerry West on its logo since 1971, according to CNN.
Fans on Twitter have been sharing ideas on how to use Bryant’s image on the league’s iconic tricolor logo.
