MANILA, Philippines — Dragged into an extra session for the second straight game, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas showed tremendous resolve to stave off another challenge against one of the in-form teams in the Asean Basketball League.

Three days removed from a career performance, Jason Brickman rose to the challenge in overtime as San Miguel Alab Pilipinas outlasted Singapore Slingers, 86-77, Sunday night at Sta. Rosa Multi Purpose Sports Complex in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Brickman poured seven of his 16 points in the extra period to backstop import Nick King as Alab claimed a second straight win for solo second with an 8-4 record, while snapping the Slingers’ two game winning streak.

King finished with 20 points including a lay up to help ice the game at 81-75 with 69 seconds remaining in overtime. It was Brickman who set the tone for Alab’s strong stand in overtime hitting a tough layup for a 73-71 advantage, before back to back baskets by Sam Deguara gave the home team the lead for good, 77-75.
