MANILA, Philippines — Brandon Vera is set to defend his ONE heavyweight world title on May 29 in Manila at Mall of Asia Arena.

Vera made the announcement during the Fire & Fury card in front of a hometown crowd last Friday.

“That heavyweight title is ours. I am defending our belt, May 29 here at MOA Arena. We have people challenging me thinking they can take the belt from us,” said Vera, whose next opponent is yet to be determined.

It’s been more than a year since Vera last defended his belt.

His last heavyweight fight was back in November 2018 where he knocked out Mauro Cerilli in the first round.

Four months ago, Vera suffered his first loss in ONE Championship after he got stopped in the second round by two-division champion Aung La N Sang in a light heavyweight showdown in Tokyo, Japan.

The 42-year-old has been untouchable in the heavyweight division at 4-0.
