Among the four teams seeing action on Thursday, only Lyceum has the mathematical chance of making it to the next round, and the Lady Pirates hope to enhance that when they slug it out with Mapua in the 95th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The first serve is at 12 noon and aside from shooting for a crucial win, the Lady Pirates would need to have things fall their way the rest of the elimination round as their fate also depends on the performances of several teams ahead of them in the standings.
Still veteran coach Emil Lontoc said everything is still possible.
After all, after Mapua, they will face lowly San Sebastian and then a shaky San Beda to close out the eliminations.
“We just give it our best every game,” he said.
The Lady Cardinals, who are wallowing down the standings with a 1-5 record, could again be easy pickings for the Lady Pirates.
Winless Emilio Aguinaldo and San Sebastian, which is also out of it all with a 1-5 record, collide at 2 p.m.
